Wheel slip Condition based based on Tractive effort.

To determine wheel slip condition we will need to compare
Tractive Effort due to Ground adhesion vs Tractive effort produced due to power train aggregates.

TEGA = Tractive Effort due to Ground adhesion
TE= Tractive effort produced due to power train aggregates.

condition:

TEGA > TE ; No slip
TEGA < TE ; wheel will slip - Not favorable condition for design.

Calculate Tractive Effort at wheels-TE Inputs Required Torque at Wheels = 32607 N-m Tyre SLR = 0.4 meters Tractive effort (N) =  Torque at Wheels  /  Tyre SLR = 32607/0.40 =81518.4 N Related Link https://autocal1.blogspot.com/2020/06/calculating-torque-at-wheels-inputs.html
Max permissible Tractive effort due to Ground Adhesion- TEGA To Calculate Max TE due to ground adhesion  you will need to have following data as input. Mue =Coefficient of friction between road and wheel =0.7 (Dry road) =0.4 (wet surface) GUV( Gross vehicle Weight)= 9500 Kg Formula: Tractive effort= GVW X Mue=9500 x 9.81 x 0.7 = 65236.5 N
Calculating Torque at wheels In this blog we will see method to calculate torque produced at wheels you can calculate torque produced for any combination of Transmission ratio, transfer case or Axle ratio available with you. Following Inputs are required to perform the calculation. Inputs Required Engine Torque = 850 N-m Transmission Ratio=7.2:1 Transfer case Ratio=1.6:1 Axle Ratio=3.33 Torque at Wheels ( N-m) = Engine Torque X Transmission Ratio X Transfer case Ratio X Axle Ratio = 850  X  7.2  X  1.6   X  3.33 =32607 N-m
